Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, born on August 12, 1932, is a beloved of her subjects. Affectionately, they call her the Mother, itself telling about the reverence she holds in the people's heart. During here long stint as the Queen, she has made every effort for the welfare of her subjects. Reviving of several Thai folk arts and crafts has been a remarkable contribution of her. Bang Sai Arts & Crafts Center is a brainchild of the Queen. It has gained worldwide fame today, thanks to the patronizing of the Queen.
The Queen’s SUPPORT Foundation (Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Her Majesty the Queen Related Techniques) has expanded continuously since its establishment in 1976 to include craft shops in various tourist areas including Pattaya, and two Thai Folk Arts and Crafts Training Centers at Chitralada Villa and at Bangsai in Ayutthaya.
Life of Queen Sirikit is a story of romance, self-discipline, courage, motherhood, devotion and service to the people of Thailand. Her Majesty’s love and devotion has not only encompassed her husband and family but the entire nation of Thailand. Care and compassion is an unstinting part of her personality.

People decorate their homes with flags and portraits of the Queen. They also illuminate their houses on the occasion. Government offices are also cleaned and decorated.
