Shopping
is a favorite activity of tourists in Pattaya. Long array of varied
options enhance the shopping experience of the visitors in Pattaya. You
choose from brimming open-air markets that sell food and non-food items,
crowdy night markets, street stalls/vendors and local shops to western
style department stores, supermarkets and upmarket shops. In most
Pattaya shops, you have to display your bargaining skills.
Department Stores and Malls
As everywhere, you can shop for branded products in department stores
and malls. They hold several product items and you can rely on the name
of the brand. You need not bargain here for all the products are sold on
fixed prices. Most stores and malls open early and close late at night.
These are located at centre of the town.
Shopping Malls
Some of the famous shopping centres in Pattaya are Royal Garden, Big C,
Carrefour, Mariott, Mike, and the Avenue. Big C and Royal Market are
air-conditioned and host array of stores. The stores are full of
clothes, cameras, mobile phones, handicrafts of all types, printers,
pictures, and pretty much everything which can be bought.
Carrefour is a favorite with the locals. Food Court at Carrefour offers
variety of cuisine in affordable rates. At the Mike, tourists can shop
for reasonably priced clothing, suitcases, souvineers, etc. Mariott and
the Avenue, both are elegant, and popular with the tourists. Both
shopping centres have several indoor air-conditioned shops and good
quality restaurants.
Choice of Brands
Department Stores and malls of Pattaya are usually open from 10am to
11pm. These would provide you with generally all the items you would
find at home. However, choice of brands would be comparatively lower.
Several European and US supermarket chains have opened their stores in
Pattaya. Some Bangkok based stores too have opened their branches in
Pattaya. Walking Street is a fun in evening.
Street
Markets
A street market is held twice a week at walking distance from 'Walking
Street'. If you are fond of bargain shopping, you can visit the place.
Another market at Central Pattaya is known for hawker food and cheap
clothing. Naklua market, a bit off Pattaya, is a good place to pass your
time. A fishing market is held here every morning.
Walking Street, which becomes an international meeting point at night,
becomes a street market at day. Some expensive shops catering to antique
lovers crop here. Some upmarket establishments are also here offering
exquisitely carved jade, Buddha statues, high class jewelers and
delicate wooden ship models.
Dining and Entertainment
While in Pattaya malls, you can lunch or dinner at international food
chain restaurants. You can cool yourselves in the ice-cream parlors.
Outlet Mall offers stylish movie hall at the top floors. These halls,
targeting all age groups, feature movies with English soundtracks.
